safe?
Absolutely. The actual order processing is done
by paypal.com.
Your credit card information is never stored or given to rkilgore.com. You do not need a paypal account and we accept Mastercard, Visa, Discover or money directly from a Paypal account.

Is there an original?
Yes! It has been a difficult struggle for me to
come up with a way to offer an "original". An original
is created for each image by using a transfer process to adhere the
image to a textured surface, thus enhancing the image and representing
it in it's truest form. Only one will be made for each image.

Are all the photographs
used in your work taken by you?
Absolutely. I do not believe in using any stock
photographs or images taken by anyone else.

Why are there different
sizes offered?
Since these are limited editions, I wanted to
be able to offer everyone the opportunity in obtaining their favorite
image. Not everyone can afford or have the room for the largest print
size available. In order to address this, smaller sizes are offered
in larger editions.

What is the difference
between a limited edition vs. an open edition?
A limited edition means that only a certain number
of prints will be available. Meaning if a print is listed on this
website as being 20x30 and the edition is 5, then only 5 prints
of that image will ever be created at 20x30.
An open edition means that there
is no limit to how many prints will be created of that particular
image.
There are many debates on how many
prints should be available in order to still be called a “limited
edition”. I do not offer any open edition
prints and do not create more than 500 prints of any
image listed here.

What is an artist
proof and are there any available here?
An artist proof dates back to printmaking when
images were being created with a plate or stone. the first prints
“pulled” were inspected by the artist and were thus signed
with an “ap”. These prints were typically regarded as
being more valuable because they were the first images printed and
also as printing from the plate or stone continued, the image would
deteriorate.
I create Artist proofs in rare
instances and they never consist of more than one print of an image listed on
this site.

How are these printed?
The Limited Edition prints are made on either
acid-free archival paper or a poly/cotton blend canvas. They are
printed using the latest epson archival ultrachrome inks. The
archival paper is then mounted on 4-ply 100% cotton museum
board. The images are double matted with first a black 4-ply
100% cotton museum board and then a white 4-ply 100% cotton museum
board.
If the image is printed on canvas,
the canvas will be stretched around stretcher bars and treated
with a protective varnish. It will also be framed with a black
floater frame that serves as protection and can easily be replaced
if desired.
The "original" is printed in the
same manner but it is printed on multiple very thin transferable slices
that are adhered to a textured surface. The multiple thin slices are then fused together to make the entire image.

How long will
these prints last before fading?
Differences can vary based on exposure to sun,
heat, ozone, gas-fading and humidity. It all boils down to the type
of paper used, pigment based ink vs. dye inks and how the print will
be displayed. Wilhelm-Research is one of the premier research companies
studying the life span of artwork printed electronically. More detail
can be found at: www.wilhelm-research.com.
Rest assured that every step has been taken to preserve the life of
these prints so that they will be enjoyed for many many years to come
in their original vibrant colors.

How should I care
for my art?
There isn’t much you need to do in order
to preserve your artwork. Just remember to never expose any artwork
to direct sunlight or extreme heat or humidity. Avoid touching any
part of the print directly and if the actual artwork must be handled,
cotton gloves are advised.

If I order a print,
how do I know which number in the edition I will receive?
The images are sent out in the order of the next lowest
number available unless a specific number is requested.
